Current Election Information

Primary Election, May 17, 2022
The Oregon Primary election will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The candidate filing period is open, but due to Census Redistricting we recommend people filing for Precinct Committeepersons wait until closer to the filing deadline on March 8, 2022.
County Offices 
Wasco County will have two positions on the ballot in May: 
  • Commissioner, Position 1
  • Commissioner, Position 3 
To qualify for office, you must be 18 years of age, an active registered voter, and have resided in Wasco County for one year prior to election day.

To file for office, fill out form SEL 101 and submit it with our office. A filing fee of $50 is required at the time of filing, or candidates can choose to file by signature petition. If you choose to file by collecting signatures, contact our office at 541-506-2530 for additional assistance. Precinct Committeeperson (PCP) Filing
Precinct committeepersons serve as members of their respective major political party (currently Democrat and Republican parties). 
  • Each Precinct is allowed one PCP per 250 voters, with a minimum of two PCPs per precinct. 
  • A person may file (or be nominated) in their resident precinct, an adjacent precinct, or any precinct that shares the same State Representative District within the same county.
  • To run for office and be placed on the ballot, use the SEL 105 online filing form. You must be a member of the stated political party by November 18, 2021. The deadline to file is March 8, 2022.
  • To nominate someone for a PCP position, use the SEL 105N online filing form. The nominated candidate must be a member of the stated political party by November 18, 2021 to be eligible, and both the nominator and candidate must be a member of the same party and within the same State Representative district (see table below). The last day to file using this form is 8 pm on election day, May 17, 2022.
  • To file by write-in, you must submit the SEL 105D online filing form. You must be a member of the stated political party by November 18, 2021. The last day to file using this form is 8 pm on election day, May 17, 2022.
