Seguin has a high-tech new addition at Walnut Springs Park that helps promote local attractions. The city is now an official stop on the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority’s new River Heritage Tour.

“This week all ten participating communities will unveil their kiosk and corresponding video. Seguin’s relationship with the river including its history, economic development and tourist attractions are highlighted by the landmark,” said Morgan Ash, Public Information Officer.

The kiosk was constructed through funding from GBRA and the City of Seguin. The hope is folks travel from community to community along the trail and use the kiosks to learn more about what makes each city unique.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, the Seguin Chamber of Commerce, city leaders and GBRA representatives joined together at Walnut Springs Park for a ribbon cutting of the kiosk and River Heritage Tour video.

Mayor Don Keil used his smart phone to scan the barcode on the kiosk, and was thrilled to see how easy it was to watch the video. Parks and Recreation Director Jack Jones, Marty Keil with the Seguin Conservation Society, local historian Fred Blumberg and John Gesick with the Seguin Heritage Museum all make appearances on the video.
