Gregorarz Postcard

Starting on Tuesday, September 22, Gallery 194 will open its final single-artist show for 2020. The works on display will belong to Natalie Gregorarz, a Michigan-based painter who specializes in recreating images from the natural world. Natalie is best known as one of the artists selected to paint for the biographical drama film, “Loving Vincent.” Natalie’s work, including a few pieces she painted specifically for the movie, will be on display in Gallery 194 from September 22 to October 31, 2020.

Natalie Gregorarz says her interest in travel allows her to explore new places and become inspired from each individual environment. She uses mainly oil paint to capture the unique elements of the subject and blends them with the use of vibrant colors to create an otherworldly scene that comes alive on the canvas. The show will also include a few pieces by Natalie in acrylics and in ink.

Since graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Wayne State University, Gregorarz’s artistic ambitions have taken her from competing and winning in live painting events to working on the Oscar nominated film Loving Vincent, the first fully painted feature film. 125 classically trained painters were selected to create the pieces used in the film, which released in 2017. The project took over six years to complete, with painters travelling from around the world to work on the images used in the final film. “Loving Vincent” will be shown as wallpaper in the Gallery during the show, so that visitors can get a taste of this unique film.

Due to current restrictions on gatherings, no reception will be held for this show. However, the artist has agreed to be at the gallery on September 25th from 12-6 pm and September 26th from 12-3 pm. Please stop in if you are available to meet her and enjoy the works on display! As always, admission to the gallery is free and it is open to the public from 12 – 6 pm, Tuesday through Friday, and Saturdays 12 - 3 pm.
