Commission Meeting Schedule
The Planning and Zoning Department for the City of Camilla works with commercial and residential land developers by implementing the City of Camilla’s Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Land Use Plan. This department assists the land development community and public in the verification of building setbacks, parking requirements, designated zoning of property, variance requests, signage and landscaping. The City of Camilla Planning Commission is a five member board authorized under Title Eight, Article A, Section 8-1-1 of the Code of the City of Camilla. In its capacity as an advisory board, the Planning Commission conducts hearings for certain land development requests and prepares recommendations for consideration by the Camilla City Council.
The purposes of the commission are to:
(1) Develop and maintain land use plans, administrative procedures, zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations, and design ordinances for local government adoption;
(2) Recommend and/or develop and maintain other plans, ordinances, and "tools" relating to land use as needed by the city. Such documents may include sign ordinance, redevelopment plan, and others;
(3) Hold public hearings on plans/ordinances or changes thereto.
