The Barry County Office of Community Corrections has three programs designed to help offenders successfully complete probation while avoiding incarceration. Programs and services are designed using a rehabilitative approach with careful consideration for public safety.
The three programs the Barry County OCC offers are:
- The Cog Program (female community Cog, male Cog--both in the jail and in the community)
- The Drug Testing Program (females and males)
- The Anger Management Program (males only)
The OCC Cog Program is a 12-week, cognitive behavioral-based, group treatment exclusively for OCC enrolled offenders. Treatment addresses thinking patterns that contribute to criminal behavior. Services are contracted with Pine Rest. The curriculum includes the following topics:
- The CBT Model

The Cog Program is offered in the community and also in the Barry County Jail for male participants.
DRUG TESTING PROGRAM
The OCC Drug Testing Program is a minimum 120-day program that provides instant urine testing and PBTs to enrolled offenders. All participants are assigned a testing color and are directed to test on a random basis through our testing hot-line. All participants receive a program intake, which includes a verbal and written review of program rules.
Participants who fail to appear when called to drug test, test positive for any unexcused substance, or provide a diluted or adulterated sample must re-start the program.
The OCC Anger Management group is a 12-week, cognitive behavioral-based, group treatment exclusively for OCC enrolled male offenders. Treatment is provided by Pine Rest and addresses the following topics:
- Defining Anger
- Anger Control Plans
- The Cycle of Aggression
- The ABC Model
- Primary Emotions
- Communication Styles
- Conflict Resolution
